Description

Probably French, duding from the composition of the small painted scenes, this is a late 18th C or early 19th C paper fan which is beautifully painted in watercolor and gilt on paper. The spines are gilt-embellished mother of pearl. It comes in a gilt shadowbox frame with a light blue cloth interior to better show off the fan.
The condition is excellent, restored. It has two visible breaks in the sticks which have been very well repaired. There is a bit of paper separation noted on one stick (see photos). Not inspected outside frame.
