Description:
Circa 1900, a unusual fan.. It could possibly be Arts and Crafts period….I am not sure but it seems to date from that time.Any fan experts, if they have any information, let me know your thoughts is you have time. The fabric itself is wonderful, the front part has additional tiny metallic embroidery throughout the floral printed design, so this seems to have been done only on the front of the fan but not on the back, the print is the same on the back but there is no embroiderey. The stick are wooden, engraved with polychrome flower sprays and ornate gold leaf? In good strong condition. Some natural age wear on top, looks like soem tiny threads need to be snipped off.Measuring approx.11” deep. When we took the phtos I had not noticed the fine gold metallic embroidery so the pictures are not close up so its difficult to see how fine the metallic work is. I really think this print could be  interesting.. Liberty? or some other store during that period of time? Please also see our other listings of fans. The collection came from a family that dates back to the ealry 1700’s, and were prominent members of the Boston Brahmans.
All items we list need to be laundered.
