It all starts with Arnold brilhart who began in 1939 in great neck new York. He would proceed to come out with multiple different versions of his mouthpieces with different materials and measurements. Tonalin and ebolin mouthpieces began in 1940 where he would later trademark these names in 1942. In 1946, Brilhart would move to Mineola NY. 1951, Brilhart released the personaline model and moved to huntington New York. In 1954, brilhart moved to carlsbad california.
When it comes to the mouthpieces, Brilhart made many mouthpieces which has serial numbers and ever more which did not. It can be tough to determine which periods the pieces without serials came out of, but we can take educated guesses based off of different signs on the mouthpieces. The geometry of the pieces can help determine the vintage because Brilhart changed the geometry multiple times throughout the years. The tooth guard can help based on design and whether or not it is present.
Brilhart pieces have stayed desirable throughout the years for good reason. They can be GREAT pieces when you get the one you are looking for.
