Duck Decoy Blanks, Book or both - Basswood woodcarving wood carve Mallard bird

This listing gives you a choice of purchasing just the Mallard Duck blanks( appropriate for carving as illustrated in this book)  in Basswood or Butternut.  You can also purchase the Book in combination with the blanks. Select the variation you want from the drop down list above. If you don't see what you want in stock, message me and I may be able to cut them for you.
These Basswood and Butternut  Duck Blanks you will get are about 1/3 size of a realistic Mallard Duck.
Each blank is about 9 1/4 inches long overall when head is attached. Widest part of the body is about 4 1/4 inches wide and total height with head attached is about 3 3/4 inches high.
These dimensions were picked as it is a nice size for displaying in your home rather than a full size duck. I do not include the "keel" as these blanks are meant for display in your home and want them to set upright. Eyes are not included.

I will include an extra head so you can practice on it prior to starting the other heads. I will also put in some scrap pieces of the Basswood or Butternut so you can practice your texturing techniques, painting etc.
The book describes the process of carving a "smoothy" style Mallard duck decoy with feather details painted on. If you want to do a realistic duck the book  gets you to the point of burning feathers etc. but does not cover burning nor realistic painting. With the Butternut Decoys you would not want to paint it.  Perhaps some burning may look good.
