    Description

    M.C. Gregory alto saxophone mouthpiece Model A 5A-20. Colloquially known as a "Master". Early, pre- Master, model with round chamber like the later Masters but with the diamond logo. The most sought after and sell for the highest price of all the M.C. Gregory models.  Have sold for 00 and up on eBay.  There are plenty of Gregory 4A-18's around and Paul Desmond's name is usually tossed in for its appeal. The 5A-20 has a more open tip and a larger chamber.  The tip measures at its original .69.  This mouthpiece is in like-new condition.  Meticulously cared for.  It is definitely a lead alto model for those who want something distinctive. Think...pretty...vibrant...ringing and bigger than a dark mouthpiece at a distance.  Listen to Jack Dumont playing the original recording of Harlem Nocturne (Youtube).  He is using his Gregory, as was Ronnie Lang when he recorded the sound track for Taxi Driver.  Why am I selling it?
