his listing is for a vintage Selmer (Paris) metal mouthpiece for tenor saxophone. It is the model commonly known as the 'classic', although they are not stamped as such. Alternatively, some refer to this as a metal Soloist (or metal Soloist style) because it has a raised scroll design on the shank, just like the hard rubber Soloist model. It is a long shank version. It has flat inner side walls, and a medium/small round chamber.
This piece has been refaced. It is marked C* on top, but it has been opened up to an "F" tip (.091"). It is not signed, so I have no idea who did the refacing, but it is quality work. The rails are nicely balanced, and the baffle was adjusted to compensate for the wider tip opening. Since this is a plated mouthpiece, the plating is no longer present where it was worked on. All adjustments were made on the rails up through the tip. The table was not altered, and thus retains its plating.
This mouthpiece is in excellent condition. It has not been damaged. There are no dings or gouges to the tip, table, or rails. The shank is perfectly round. There are no indentations in the bite plate. The silver plating is fully intact, except where it was removed as a necessary part of the refacing process. This mouthpiece has been cleaned/sanitized. Cap and ligature are not included.
