T
his listing is for a vintage alto saxophone mouthpiece. There are no markings on this piece, but I am 99% certain that it is a product of the German company Wagner. These were often supplied as unmarked stock pieces along with german made stencil saxophones. This piece was probably made in the 1960's, or thereabouts.
This is a streamline (or slimline) style mouthpiece, meaning it is quite a bit more slender than a typical alto sax mouthpiece. A standard alto sax ligature, or even a clarinet ligature, will be too large for it. Unfortunately I don't have a ligature to go along with it. If nothing else, you should be able to find a Rovner to fit it.
This piece is made of hard rubber, not plastic. It has a roll over baffle, flat inner side walls, and a horseshoe shaped chamber. The tip opening measurement is .080", which is fairly open for an alto mouthpiece. For reference, that is slightly wider than a Selmer E, or slightly smaller than a Meyer #7.
This mouthpiece
is in excellent condition.
There are some very light nicks on the back end of the table, but the tip and side rails are perfectly smooth. There are no tooth indentations on the beak. There are some minor ligature scuffs on the exterior. It has been cleaned/sanitized.
Please feel free to email me with any questions.
Thanks again for looking!
