his listing is for a vintage Holton alto saxophone mouthpiece. Holton called this the
"Perfected" model. It is a hybrid mouthpiece made of bakelite surrounding a metal core. These were designed to be extremely durable, and resistant to warping. In fact, I found one of the original print advertisements for this mouthpiece from 1924 that contains some pretty bold statements, such as "as enduring as the pyramids" used to describe this model! They also claim that it can be thrown across the room without breaking, but notably they suggest not doing so!
This mouthpiece is quite typical of pre-WWII era design. The tip opening is quite close, measuring in at .050". It has deeply scooped inner side walls, and a large round chamber.
This mouthpiece is in excellent condition. The metal part is perfectly smooth, albeit tarnished. There are no cracks or chips to the bakelite. There is no tooth wear on the beak. It  has been cleaned/sanitized.
