his listing is for a vintage Simpson (Hollywood) alto saxophone mouthpiece. The Simpson line of mouthpieces was marketed by Rico. They are often also attributed to the venerable M.C. Gregory brand (most famous for their 'model A', as used by Paul Desmond of Take 5 fame), but the jury is still out as to the connection, if there is one.
I will say that the Simpson is certainly quite similar to the Gregory (Model A and Master Model) though. It has a medium round chamber and deeply scooped inner side walls. It has a similar exterior shape as well. Likewise, the Simpson is made with excellent quality hard rubber. This one is marked "0" on the side.
The tip opening is pretty close, measuring in at just .055", so you'll either need to use a hard reed, or have it opened to a more modern tip opening. It also has the number 698 marked very lightly on the other side. Presumably that is a serial number.
This mouthpiece is in excellent condition. The facing is perfectly smooth and original/unaltered. The beak is free of tooth indentations. The logo is a bit faint, but still visible.
It has been cleaned/sanitized.
